"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."

Friday, April 28: Macha group patient fittings

Protashow left first thing on Friday to go to Macha with the bus to pick up patients for fittings. Everyone who we told to come back on Friday for fittings would meet at the radio station in Macha.

Surveying the prostheses ready for fittings and who would be coming today.

Rick setting up a "screen" for the film, which was a white sheet tied around a door.

Blu setting up speakers.

We were so excited to be able to play the Jesus film in the Tonga language for patients waiting on the porch while we were doing fittings.

Everyone unloading from the bus. We had 5 prosthetic patients and 7 eye patients for fittings on Friday.

Arnold being fit with his new prosthesis.
Handshake with Arnold after we were finished with his fitting.

Chris got a hug though. :)

Patient fitting for John.

Chris is fitting David with his below knee prosthesis.

Calling in the next patient to be fit.

Cambree helping John by translating with his patient. Cambree was a great assistant for John, taking notes and translating for all his patients.

Mulenga is translating for Chris for instructions on how to use the prosthetic socks to maintain a good fit.

Rick and John's patient....

...she was excited to find out Rick has a prosthetic eye as well.

Elias back for fitting of his prosthetic eye.

Chris fitting Lucy with her prosthesis.

Traci making an alignment change.

A great smile after seeing his reflection with a prosthetic eye!

John and his happy patient.

Alfred before...

...and after with his prosthetic eye. Alfred lost his eye due to a slingshot injury.

The ladies cooking lunch of nshima, beans and cabbage for the patients while they waited.

We actually had everyone finished with fittings just after lunch, so once everyone finished eating Protashow drove the bus with everyone back to the radio station in Macha. The rest of the prostheses were ready for the last group of patient fittings on Saturday, so amazingly we had the afternoon to relax a little and visit with folks around the orphanage.

After our lunch we walked down to the river with Nurse Carol, which is a several mile walk.

Was great to take in all the scenery.

Group of boys who brought their herds of cows down to the river for water. I was amazed watching them call their own herds back out of the group to leave!

John, Chris, Traci and Carol looking at the river scene with cows watering and ladies doing laundry upstream.

Traci and I finally had time to climb the water tower at New Day for sunset pictures.

We all really enjoyed having an afternoon to relax and visit before the final patient fitting day on Saturday.
