"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)

Friday, Sept. 9- Fabrication day at the clinic

Friday was spent doing fabrication and getting organized. Suzanne and I worked on modifying and got 5 models ready for lamination. Jason and Suzanne worked on putting together the sewing machine, and Jason put together a tool chest to store components in. Rochelle and Jacey helped organize parts and tools since everything was scattered around the clinic. This was tremendous help to make it easier when we started assembling the prostheses and seeing patients back for fitting!

The wonderfully talented John Brinkley making prosthetic eyes.

Such detail!

And a messy part.

This shows the front and back of a prosthetic eye. Many people think 'round' when they think of a prosthetic eye, but it's actually like a cup around the tissue in the eye socket.

Jason's so awesome! He came up to the clinic to offer to help put together equipment for us.

Love this picture of both Jason and I working. :)

Suzanne working on modifying. It was so awesome working with her on this trip! I had a rotation at her office for my coursework during school, so it was very cool to work along side her now that I've been in the field for several years. How amazingly blessed I am to have Suzanne and Chris as mentors and to work with each of them in this ministry. I hope we all 3 can work together on a future trip.

Models ready for laminations.

Suzanne and Jacey sorting through prosthetic feet.

Jacey organizing feet by dividing them with all lefts in one tub and all rights in another.

Jason got a hold of the camera and took some 'artsy' photos. This is a cool shot of my plaster-y fingers smoothing a model.

Jason also took this great photo of John as he painted prosthetic eyes.

Chris and Jason had finished up the solar installation, so Chris came up to the clinic to do a video. This is a great look at the work in action!

*Next post: Saturday, Sept.10- More patients, Jason and Chris leave for home
